Development Profile for Firefox

Sometimes you may need special Firefox profile for development purposes if you for example are debugging your extension.
In this case you may want to have simultaneously opened two instances of firefox: one with your bookmarks and all staffs and another, light but with dev extensions and any other features, it is possible.
1. Create new profile "Dev" by command
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" --profilemanager
2. Create shortcut for your profile
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P "Dev" -no-remote
3. Install some useful extensions:
3.1. Restart Firefox
3.2. Firebug
4. Setup your development environment for this profile

Заміна кириличних імен файлів на трансліт у Total Commander

1. Виділити всі файли, які потрібно перейменувати.
2. Натиснути Ctrl-M (або Files/Multi-reaname tool)
3. В секції Search & Replace:
3.1. у полі "Search for" ввести

UltraMon and drivers losing

Everywhere when I shutdown my Windows after starting windows drivers of video are losing. It bebcame happening after installing UltraMon utility. If I just do restart (soft, not when I press reset button) - Windows starts correctly.

The problem is in UltraMon which install some drivers. The following steps allowed me to resolve this problem:
1. Uninstall UltraMon
2. Update drivers for video (from local DB of drivers)
3. Restart the system
4. Instal UltraMon but disable "Mirroring" feature.

Тултіпи у Firefox

Не знаю від чого так сталось, чи якесь розширення так зробило, але тултіпи перестали показуватись, причому як на машині на роботі, так і вдома.
Коротше, у мене значення ключа browser.chrome.toolbar_tips було false, після того, як виставив в true, проблема зникла.

Ті самі розширення Firefox для різних профілів

За замовчуванням ФФ для кожного профайлу використовує розширення з папки extensions профайлу і з глобальної папки розширень C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\ (щоб зробити ваші розширення "глобальними", достатньо скопіювати). Щоб задати явно в яку папку потрібно інсталювати нові розширення потрібно
1. Проінсталити розширення MR Tech Local Install
2. Зайти в меню Tools/Locall Install Settings
3. В полі "Default Install Path for Extensions" ввести шлях до глобальної папки з розширеннями: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions\

Два вікна Firefox з різними профайлами одночасно

За замовчуванням запускаючи другий інстанс файєрфоксу, навіть якщо при цьому явно вказати який профайл завантажувати, файєрфокс завантажується у тому профайлі, як і в першому вікні. Щоб він таки запускався у потрібному профайлі потрібно додати параметер -no-remote. Наприклад

"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P "profileName" -no-remote

Щоб зайти в менеджер профілів Firefox потрібно запускати так:
"C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" --profilemanager

0 - Display close button only on the active tab
1 - Display close buttons on every tabs
2 - Never display close buttons
3 - Display single close button at the end of the tab strip (This is the old, default Firefox 1.5 behavior)

If browser.tabs.closeButtons does not exist, you can create it. Right-click the page and select New and then Integer

whatmon: Mozilla Extension for Monitoring Whatever

I spend a good part of any day in my favorite web browser, and even if I don't see its whole window, the lower right part of the status bar is always visible under a pile of other application windows (mostly SSH sessions). That status bar is the ideal place to put up a small monitor with which I can keep an eye on a number of important servers, without having to wait for alerts sent to me by Nagios.

• Start the registry editor by pressing the Start button, Run, typing regedit and pressing OK.
• In Registry Editor, expand, in turn:

  Expand each entry by clicking on the boxed plus sign to it's left. If that's a boxed minus sign, then it's already expanded.
• Now click on the Security entry.
• On Registry Editor's menu bar, select Edit, New, and String Value.
• Replace the default name of "New Value #1" with "Level1Remove".
• Right-click on Level1Remove and select Modify.
• Enter the list of file extensions that you want to gain access to. The list is semi-colon separated. For example if you wanted to allow access to both ".url" and ".exe" files, then you would enter ".url;.exe".
• Exit Registry Editor, and you're done. You may need to restart Outlook if it was running while you were doing this.
